Overview

Beyond the souks and the energy of Jemaa el-Fnaa lies a quieter, deeply historical Marrakech. This tour follows the Sab’atou Rijal, the Seven Saints of Marrakech: holy men, scholars and Sufi mystics who shaped the spiritual and cultural identity of the city for centuries.

Their shrines (zaouias) are architectural treasures tucked away in peaceful neighbourhoods, where incense fills the air and history is written in the zellij. A tour for curious travellers who want to understand why Marrakech is what it is.

Format: private or small group, morning or afternoon, on foot with local transport when needed. Level: easy, with moderate walking in the Medina.

Good to know: please dress modestly (shoulders and knees covered) and wear comfortable shoes. Photos are welcome in courtyards and streets; ask before taking pictures inside. On some days, the inner rooms of a few shrines are open to Muslims only: your guide explains their history from the courtyards.

What you will do

  1. Sidi Youssef Ben Ali

Often seen as the patron saint of Marrakech, with a peaceful zaouia near Bab Doukkala known for its green tiles.

The most famous of the seven, who dedicated his life to the poor and the blind; his legacy of charity lives on at his mausoleum.

  4. Sidi Abdallah al-Ghazwani

“Moul El Ksour”, a Sufi master whose shrine is a fine example of Marinid architecture.

  5. Sidi Abd al-Aziz al-Tabba

A scholar from Fes who settled in Marrakech; admire the woodwork and calm of his resting place.

  6. Imam al-Suhayli

The blind Andalusian scholar who became one of the most respected interpreters of Islamic texts in the region.
